Get noticed in the manufacturing sector! Some winners received national press coverage in 2010 – plus there are substantial study awards available.
MSA's inaugural VET Professional Study Award offers $10,000 to study in Australia or overseas, to build upon Australian best teaching, learning and assessment practices. Applications close Thursday 30th June 2011.
The MSA Innovation Program Study Award offers $10,000 to study overseas skills and technologies. Applications close Thursday 30th June 2011.
The MSA Women at Work – Making a Difference study award offers $5,000 towards the winner’s training course. Applications close Thursday 30th June 2011.
The winners of VET Professional and Innovation awards will present their findings to key industry stakeholders and together with Women at Work winners will accept their awards at our 6th Annual conference – Productivity and Participation – Addressing the balance in Melbourne on 24th August, 2011.

2011 Northern Territory Occupation Shortage List 23/3/11
The 2011 Northern Territory Occupation Shortage List is now available on the Department of Business and Employment website.
The Department received a good response from stakeholders during the review of the shortage list. As a result of the review, new occupations have been added to the 2011 shortage list.
The Employment and Policy Coordination Division welcomes evidence of occupations experiencing recruitment difficulty or skill shortage throughout the year, however the shortage list is only updated annually.

Nominations Now Open 23/3/11
Nominations are now open for the 2011 Northern Territory Training Awards! The NT Training Awards are the Department of Education and Training’s annual premier event recognising training excellence and achievements by Territory businesses, training organisations, VET Teacher/Trainers, apprentices, trainees and students. Information, eligibility details, selection criteria and valuable nomination tips are available on our website at www.growingnt.nt.gov.au
The gala dinner will be held in Darwin on Saturday 10 September 2011.
Nominations close Friday 13 May 2011.
National Broadband Network 01/02/11
Session Postponed due to Cyclone Carlos, will be rescheduled for April 2011
The National Broadband Network is an Australian Government initiative that will affect all areas of our lives, from the way we work, to the way we play; from the way we receive treatment when we are ill, to the way we receive our education. It is Australia’s largest national infrastructure project.

NT Department of Education and Training - Productivity Places Program (PPP)

Productivity Places Program aims to assist job seekers to acquire skills and gain lasting employment and assist existing workers to update or upgrade their skills. Funding is provided to registered training organisations to deliver qualifications in a range of industries and levels. Industry can benefit from the program by:
Upskilling existing employees;
Re-skilling existing employees;
providing a formal training pathway for people who have worked in an industry for a number of years but do not hold a qualification; and

Employing job seekers who have gained industry qualifications through PPP
